Dispatch 10 | What are Jobless Labourers Eating?

In this tenth video dispatch in the StoriesAsia On the Road series, we spoke to labourers. About their food intake, about how they are managing these difficult times amid the lockdown. As India enters its second week of an ongoing 21-day curfew-like shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak, daily wage labourers, many of whom have lost their jobs, have been left in the lurch, surviving meagerly, often on the most basic food supplies.

Please watch this dispatch from the outskirts of India’s National Capital, Delhi.

* “On the Road” is a new series by StoriesAsia on the Coronavirus outbreak where we bring you stories that help you respond to this ongoing historic pandemic. Using their vehicles, StoriesAsia journalists will travel around to bring you stories of not just pain and suffering but also healing and heroism.

StoriesAsia, a collective of independent journalists from 16 South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, seeks to replace the present-day parade of faceless numbers with humanising narrative nonfiction – a largely ignored journalistic genre in the region.
