Home » Dispatch 11 | Kashmir’s Ailing Healthcare System Gasps for Breath
In this eleventh video dispatch from our “On the Road” series, StoriesAsia’s Kashmir reporter, Imraan Ali, travelled and spent time with volunteers from a local organisation in Srinagar. This group of concerned citizens is working against time to innovate, procure, and provide Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) for their first line of defence against the COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping across the world. As Doctors and paramedics in the valley brace themselves for the likely onslaught of Coronavirus positive cases, there will be a possible shortage of life-saving equipment gloves, masks, and overalls. The crippling 21-day shutdown across India that has now entered its second week has already hampered the movement of goods between states. The work on the ground by volunteers could mean the difference between life and death for the very people who are involved in protecting us.
