Dispatch 35 | ‘Give Us Food, But With Dignity’ Migrant Workers Say

In this 35th video dispatch in the StoriesAsia On The Road series, our reporters looked closely at food distribution by the Uttar Pradesh government in Noida’s Nithari area. A majority of the residents here are daily-wage migrants from other parts of India. While food was being provided, the residents were not happy in the way they were treated.

They wanted food, but not at the cost of their dignity.

**“On the Road” is a new series by StoriesAsia on the Coronavirus outbreak where we bring you stories that help you respond to this ongoing historic pandemic. Using their vehicles, StoriesAsia journalists will travel around to bring you stories of not just pain and suffering but also healing and heroism.

StoriesAsia, a collective of independent journalists from 16 South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, seeks to replace the present-day parade of faceless numbers with humanising narrative nonfiction – a largely ignored journalistic genre in the region.
