Dispatch 38 | ‘You’ll Be Arrested If You Ask for Payment,’ 300 Migrant Workers In Gujarat Told

In the 38th video dispatch in the StoriesAsia On The Road series, our reporter met with about 300 migrant workers employed at a government-run water treatment plant in the city of Ahmedabad in the western state of Gujarat. The contractual workers said they had not been paid since the lockdown began over a month ago, and had been threatened with arrest if they continued to ask for the payment. They estimate the amount due to them to be around 2.5 million rupees.
