Dispatch 19 | Malaria A Bigger Concern Than Coronavirus in This Village

In this 19th video in the StoriesAsia On the Road series, our reporters travelled to India’s least developed district, Nuh, formerly known as Mewat, in northern Haryana state. The reporters spent an afternoon with residents of Jaisinghpur Village. They told StoriesAsia journalists that their most significant health concern comes out of lack of development, and not due to the coronavirus.

India is in its third week of an almost total lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

** “On the Road” is a new series by StoriesAsia on the Coronavirus outbreak where we bring you stories that help you respond to this ongoing historic pandemic. Using their vehicles, StoriesAsia journalists will travel around to bring you stories of not just pain and suffering but also healing and heroism.

StoriesAsia, a collective of independent journalists from 16 South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, seeks to replace the present-day parade of faceless numbers with humanising narrative nonfiction – a largely ignored journalistic genre in the region.
