Dispatch 2 | The Homeless Forced to Disappear from Delhi’s Streets

For this second video dispatch in the StoriesAsia Caravan series, our reporters ventured out on the streets of Delhi.

A forlorn group of 50 homeless people was forced to vacate the streets by the Police. The fear and the frustration was evident amongst this large group.

With little or no information made available by respective governments across the many Indian states. The poor and the homeless stare at an extremely uncertain future amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic. India went into a three-week complete state of a Government-sponsored lockdown starting at midnight on 24 March 2020.

* “On the Road” is a new series by StoriesAsia on the Coronavirus outbreak where we bring you stories that help you respond to this ongoing historic pandemic. Using their vehicles, StoriesAsia journalists will travel around to bring you stories of not just pain and suffering but also healing and heroism.

StoriesAsia, a collective of independent journalists from 16 South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, seeks to replace the present-day parade of faceless numbers with humanising narrative nonfiction – a largely ignored journalistic genre in the region.
