In this 21st video dispatch in the StoriesAsia On The Road series, our reporters visited a designated area in East Delhi for free food distribution meant to provide relief to daily-wage earners.
While the beneficiaries had no complaints about the quantity or the quality of food that was being served twice daily; no milk or milk supplements were being distributed which meant parents didn’t have any means to feed infants.
The free ration was being distributed, but, only to those who were able to meet specific requirements, one of which was filling out an online form. The website where this. is available has been down for three days, leaving many without ration.
Amid the 21 days of the COVID-19 lockdown in India which might be extended by another fortnight, the poor of the country have borne the most substantial price thus far.
