Dispatch 24 | Declining Trust in Government Causing Chaos on the Streets

In the 24th video dispatch in the StoriesAsia On The Road series, our reporters roamed around the Nithari area of Noida, which is part of the National Capital region, speaking to daily-wage workers about their basic needs. The frustrated residents complained that they had not been told where to get free rations that the government had announced. While free food was being served by Noida authorities, the workers didn’t seem to have any confidence in the government’s ability or will to provide meals that were sufficient in amount and worth eating. The distrust and the lack of information are also causing them to defy the social distancing rules.

** “On the Road” is a new series by StoriesAsia on the Coronavirus outbreak where we bring you stories that help you respond to this ongoing historic pandemic.
